Chinese surgeons are reported to be modifying fingerprints in the hopes of beating Japan's biometric ID system.
That's only $600, but it looks like you pretty much get what you pay for, since the system did detect fingerprint anomalies. Let's hope US-VISIT is engaged in a technical exchange with the Japanese on this.
"Immigration authorities have successfully detected four people since January trying to enter Japan illegally by trying to fool the biometric identity system. ...The four people detected at Narita were
arrested and told Chiba police investigators that their fingerprints
were altered with surgery performed in China, where they had paid
doctors 5,000 yuan (roughly ¥70,000) for the procedure, according to
the police."

Sound scary, what if someone would like to have the exact fingerprint of Adolf Hitler or Albert Einstein whom ever they prefer that only cost $600.

Fingerprint surgery sounds interesting and threatening as well. Is this really being done?

That means that even your fingerprint can be copied, wow that is scary.

This is really scary, it's possible now to accuse an innocent person for a single crime. This shouldn't be practiced by surgeons.

That's just not cool. I don't see many plastic surgeons doing this one. Too dangerous for terrorists.
